Fishtown Food: Loco Pez

Food is one of my favorite things and Fishtown's food scene does not disappoint. I'm almost positive that in the dozen or so times my father in law has visited, we have not once repeated a restaurant. However, I do have a few favorites that I may or may not hit up multiple times a month.

Loco Pez is one of those favorites. I love tacos, and Loco Pez has some of the best tacos I've tried so far in Philly. I crave Loco Pez at least once a week and considering I now live about a 5 minute walk away, It's really hard not to go every time taco cravings hit!

Loco Pez has great tacos but I think the other big draw for me is that it feels straight out of That 70s Show. I have a slight obsession with the 60s and 70s and there's something about the pea green seating, burnt orange-y brown faux crystal light fixtures, and dusty wood paneling that makes me so happy. I love going to Loco Pez because it feels like you're sitting in someone's kooky living room, where no one will judge you when you decide it's a great idea to get an entire pitcher of margarita for yourself.

Y'all, I tried to get some inside pics but a) Loco Pez is very dark (I'm not complaining, I kinda like how cozy it feels), and I am always so hungry when I go I forget to snap a pic before I dig in. I go to Loco Pez so often, though, that it didn't take me long to hunt through my many, many food pictures to find one that showed how delicious their tacos and fries are!

Loco Pez recently opened a second location in West Philly, and I believe they are planning at least one more spot to come in the relatively near future. Of course, the original always does it best, I think. If you're ever on the northern end of Fishtown, definitely give Loco Pez a try.

Still not convinced? Loco Pez does $1 taco nights and the only way you know when it's happening is if you follow their Instagram account. If you are lucky enough to catch $1 taco night when it happens, go early, because the crowd really packs in and the wait can get insanely long. They also have a pretty solid happy hour, complete with half-price margaritas and $2 Lionshead (oh, the nostalgia).

Favorite meal: Chilorio, Chorizo and potato, and Carne Asada tacos, a side of waffle fries, and a nice cold Impala margarita.

Cheers!
